Fractional Content Leadership

Senior content leadership for your team, without a full-time hire.

Overview

Plenty of SaaS teams have writers, a blog and a backlog of ideas, but nobody senior deciding what to publish and why. Freelancers get thin briefs, drafts go through too many rounds, and content drifts away from what sales and product need. Hiring a full-time head of content is slow, and it's a big bet before you know what the role should look like.

I step in as your content lead on a part-time basis. I set the strategy, write the standards, brief and edit the writers, and join the meetings where priorities get decided. I also build Claude workflows for briefs and QA, so the system keeps working when I'm not in the room.

Who it's for

For SaaS teams that need senior content judgment now, and a full-time hire later or not at all.

  • You have writers or freelancers, but no one who owns the editorial plan.
  • Your head of content left, and the work needs to keep moving while you hire.
  • Content, product marketing and sales all want different things from the blog.
  • You're about to hire your first content lead and want the role and the system defined first.
  • Drafts take too many rounds because the briefs and standards aren't written down.
What you get
  • A content strategy tied to your positioning, buyers and pipeline goals
  • An editorial calendar, plus a clear intake process for requests from other teams
  • Brief templates and a written style and quality standard
  • Briefs, edits and feedback for your writers and freelancers
  • Claude workflows for briefs and QA, set up for your team to use
  • Regular reporting to leadership on what shipped and how it performed
  • A hand-off plan and job description when you're ready to hire full time
How it works
  1. Listen. I meet the people who touch content, from sales to product, and review what's been published and how it performs.
  2. Set direction. I write the strategy, the calendar and the standards, and agree on priorities with leadership.
  3. Run the program. I brief, edit and unblock the team, and keep the calendar honest.
  4. Hand off. When you're ready, I help you hire and leave behind a documented system your new lead can run from their first week.

FAQ

Common questions

How is this different from your SEO and content strategy retainer?

The SEO and content strategy retainer is a program I run for you: I plan, brief and ship the content. Fractional leadership is a role inside your team. I lead your writers, work with product marketing and sales, and make the calls a head of content would make. If you don't have a content team yet, the retainer is usually the better fit. If you do, this is.

How does the engagement work?

It's a monthly arrangement for an agreed share of my time, written down before we start. That time covers planning, editing, meetings and written feedback between meetings. We review the arrangement regularly and scale it up or down as your team grows or a full-time hire comes on board, so you're never paying for leadership you've outgrown.

Will you help us hire a full-time content lead?

Yes, if you want that. Part of the job is working out what the role should be. By the time you're ready to hire, the strategy, standards and calendar are written down, so I can help write the job description, review candidates' work samples and hand the system over. Your new lead starts with a running program instead of a blank page.
