Google Business Profile Optimization

Fix the listing people see on Google before they ever visit your website.

Overview

For a local business, the Google Business Profile is often the first thing a customer sees, and sometimes the only thing. They read the reviews, scroll through the photos and call straight from the listing. Plenty of profiles were set up once and left alone, with a vague primary category, a thin description and no services listed.

I audit the profile against Google's guidelines and against the businesses that show up above you, then fix what's in your control: categories, services, service areas, the description, photos, posts and a review routine that stays within Google's rules. The website link gets tagged, so visits from the profile show up on their own in GA4. This service is the profile on its own. If you also want service pages, citation cleanup and rank tracking across your area, that's my local SEO program.

Who it's for

For local businesses whose customers find them on Google Maps. I've audited or planned profiles for Kitchen & Bath World in Kitchener and AWPM Group in Mississauga.

  • Your primary category doesn't match the work you most want.
  • You work at customers' sites, but your home or office address shows on the map.
  • There are two listings for your business, and the reviews are split between them.
  • Competitors get new reviews every month, and your latest one is from last year.
  • You can't tell how many calls and website visits the profile sends you.
What you get
  • A profile audit against Google's guidelines and your top map-pack competitors
  • A primary category and secondary categories chosen for the work you want
  • Services, service areas, hours, attributes and a description, written out and ready to add
  • A photo plan built around real jobs, your team and your premises
  • A review request routine that follows Google's review policy
  • Duplicate or outdated listings found and flagged, with the steps to resolve them
  • UTM tags on the website link, so profile traffic shows up in GA4
How it works
  1. Audit. I review your profile, reviews and photos, and compare them with the businesses that rank above you for your main services.
  2. Fix. I update categories, services, service areas, hours and the description, or give you the exact changes if you'd rather make them.
  3. Set up routines. You get a review request routine and a simple posting plan you can keep up without me.
  4. Measure. The website link is tagged for GA4, and a follow-up check shows what's changed on the profile and in the results.

FAQ

Common questions

How is this different from your local SEO service?

This covers the profile itself: categories, services, photos, reviews and tracking. My local SEO program goes wider, adding service and location pages, citation cleanup and geo-grid rank tracking across your service area. If your website is in decent shape and the profile is the weak spot, start here. If both need work, the program covers both.

Can you guarantee a spot in the map pack?

No. Google says there's no way to request or pay for a better local ranking, and that local results depend mainly on relevance, distance and how well-known a business is. Distance is out of anyone's hands. What I can do is make sure your profile is complete, accurate and within the guidelines, so relevance isn't what holds you back.

What do you need from me?

Manager access to the profile, a list of the services and towns you want more work from, and real photos of your jobs, your team and your vehicles or premises. I'll also ask how customers usually get in touch, so the right contact options are switched on. The review routine only works if you send the requests, so plan for a minute or two after each job.

Not sure where to start?

Tell me what you're trying to fix. I'll tell you which service fits, or whether you need one at all.
