Websites for Local Businesses

A website that ranks in your area and turns visits into calls and quote requests.

Overview

For a service business, a website has one job: turn someone searching nearby into a phone call or a quote request. Many small business sites are brochures instead. They list every service on a single page, bury the phone number, and give Google little reason to show them in the towns they serve.

I build sites on Webflow or WordPress with local search built into the structure: a page for each service, pages for the areas you serve, LocalBusiness schema, and a clear way to get in touch on every page. I also work on the site for Forty Five Scapes, a landscape design-build company on Georgian Bay, and bring what works there to every local site I build.

Who it's for

For trades and small service businesses that need more calls and quote requests. Local clients include AWPM Group in Mississauga, V.I.L. Landscaping in Oakville, P.S. Bakery in Collingwood and Fortress Commercial Pools in Kitchener–Waterloo (launching soon).

  • Your site was built years ago and is hard to use on a phone.
  • People find you on Google Maps, but few of them call after visiting your site.
  • All your services sit on one page, so you only rank for your business name.
  • You serve several towns, but your site only mentions the one you're based in.
  • You want to update photos and projects yourself without calling a developer.
What you get
  • A site on Webflow or WordPress, chosen for how you'll run it
  • A page for each core service, written to rank and to convert
  • Service area pages for the towns you want more work from
  • Click-to-call buttons, quote request forms and a clear call to action on every page
  • LocalBusiness schema and on-page SEO in place at launch
  • Your Google Business Profile linked to the right pages on the new site
  • A walkthrough so you can update projects and photos yourself
How it works
  1. Plan. We list the services and towns that matter most to your business, and plan a page for each.
  2. Write and build. I write the copy and build the site, with local SEO and schema in every template.
  3. Check. I test the forms, calls to action and page speed on mobile before launch.
  4. Launch. The site goes live, your Google Business Profile points to the right pages, and I show you how to keep it up to date.

FAQ

Common questions

Should my site be on Webflow or WordPress?

It depends on how you want to run it. Webflow is simpler to keep secure and fast, and easy to edit visually. WordPress makes sense if you rely on a particular plugin, or already have a site and hosting you're happy with. I build on both, so I'll recommend whichever suits your business rather than the one I happen to prefer.

How much does a website cost?

Each site is quoted as a project after a short call. The price depends mainly on how many services and service areas need their own pages, whether I write the copy, and whether we're moving content from an old site. You'll get a written scope with the quote, so you know exactly what's included before any work starts.

Will a new website get me into the map pack?

A good website helps, but the map pack also depends on your Google Business Profile, reviews and citations. The site gives Google clear signals about what you do and where, and it turns the visits you get into calls. For the ranking side, my local SEO service covers the profile, reviews and geo-grid tracking. You can start with the site and add that later.
