SEO Content Writing & Briefs

Content that answers what people search for, planned before a word is written.

Overview

Most posts that go nowhere in search weren't badly written. They were badly planned. Nobody checked what the ranking pages already cover, what the searcher actually wants, or which claims the business can stand behind, so the writer guessed.

I start every piece with a brief. It sets the search intent, the angle only your business can take, the outline, the questions to answer, the facts the writer may use and the internal links to add. Then I write the article to that brief, or hand the brief to your writers. For Kitchen & Bath World, a Kitchener kitchen and bath showroom, that means answer-first posts on a publishing calendar, each with its own FAQs. If you're a SaaS company that wants strategy, briefs and publishing run as one program, my B2B SaaS SEO and content strategy retainer is the better fit.

Who it's for

For businesses and marketing teams that need content that ranks and holds up to a fact check.

  • You have writers, but their drafts miss what the searcher wanted or drift off topic.
  • Your blog has plenty of posts and very few that bring in visitors.
  • Customers ask the same questions on every call, and none of the answers are on your site.
  • You serve several towns and want local content that isn't one post with the town name swapped.
  • You've tried AI drafts and got generic copy with claims you couldn't stand behind.
What you get
  • A content brief for each piece: search intent, angle, outline, questions to answer and a word count range
  • A review of the pages that already rank, and the gaps your piece can fill
  • A fact sheet of the claims your business can make, so nothing gets invented
  • Internal links planned to your service, location and related pages
  • Articles written to the brief, answer-first, with FAQs where they help readers
  • A title tag and meta description for every piece
  • Refresh briefs for existing posts that have slipped or gone stale
How it works
  1. Learn the business. I read your site and talk to someone who knows your customers, then write down what you do, where you do it and what you can claim.
  2. Research. For each topic, I check what ranks, what searchers are really asking and what the existing pages leave out.
  3. Brief. Each piece gets a brief covering intent, angle, outline, facts, links and FAQs. You approve it before any writing starts.
  4. Write and check. I write to the brief or edit your writers' drafts, then check facts, links and metadata before the piece comes back to you.

FAQ

Common questions

Do you write the articles, or only the briefs?

Either. Some teams have good writers and need direction, so I write the briefs and edit the drafts. Others need finished articles, and I write those to the same kind of brief, so you can see the plan behind every piece. A few briefs are a sensible way to start. You'll see how I think about your topics before you commit to a full batch of articles.

Do you use AI to write?

I use Claude workflows for research, outlines and QA checks, and sometimes for a first draft. What keeps the content accurate is the brief: a fixed list of facts each piece may use, checked before anything reaches you. Google's guidance on generative AI content says AI can help with research and structure, and that generating many pages without adding value for users may break its spam policies.

How is content writing priced?

Per piece or as a monthly batch, quoted once I've seen the topics. Briefs cost less than finished articles, and pieces that need original research or interviews take longer than a straightforward how-to post. If your site has technical problems that stop pages from being indexed, fix those first. A technical SEO audit will show whether that's the case.
